Alastair Ackelby – Level 6, LE Archanist, Half Elven Male. A
middle-aged half elf with a nasty hairlip. He runs Ackelby’s Curiosities
and Alchemy, in the city of Brogue. Most of his stuff are overpriced collectables and occult novelties that nobility find
interesting and en vogue. However, he does trade in magical items on occasion,
to the right people. Occasionally, he has a few fine potions in his stock as
well. It is rumored that Alastair used to be a prominent scholar many years ago,
but lost his tenure at Lancaster University
due to some dark experiments that were inconsistent with university policy. He
is somewhat of an accomplished poet, and is a moderate authority on the Mists of the Demiplane. It is his basic conclusion that the Mists are sentient, and fundamentally good-aligned.
Alastair is also rumored to
be a collector of rare books, particularly those pertaining to the occult. He
has numerous rare treatises penned by the late Dr. Rudolph Von Richten. He also
has a vast catalogue concerning undead and other unnatural beasts. Though he
will not part with them, it might be possible to strike a bargain to use his research materials on site. Alastair loves to haggle and horsetrade. With Alastair, everything
has a price…
Sela Von Bourn – Level 3, CG Ranger, Human Female. This beautiful
red headed vixen is the innkeeper of The Dark Roost Inn, a coaching in 10 miles from Brogue.
It is rumored that during times of the Red Fang Rebellion, her and her late husband, Torgir Von Bourn, allowed various
secret rooms at the Dark Roost to serve as meeting grounds. She is devoutly devoted
to the Goddess Ezra, and maintains a well-kept shrine in front of the coaching in. This
area is widely traveled and the shrine has lots of visitors. Pilgrims often stay
at Sela’s inn, due to it seclusion and reputation as a place of good and security.
Torgin, her husband, passed away at the battle of Cliffsong Spire on the night Friederich Mulgore was killed by Enoch
LaForge. It is rumored that she still has his body stored in the basement of
the Inn, well preserved in a dark corner just next to the kegs of ale.
Ulrik Valenti – Level 5, CN Thief, Half-Vistani
Male. Fortune teller, fence, thief, and con man, and former leader of the Shadow
Puppets Thieves Guild of Brogue, before being run out of the city. Nowadays he
keeps to himself in and around the settlement of Throgmorten, but he’ll still set up the occasional nightly meeting
for those that know Thieves Cant and can deliver the proper note to the burned out fireplace sitting atop Breed’s
hill. Among his other talents, Ulrik has gained quite the reputation
for being an adept information broker. For as distant as he keeps from Brogue,
he is able to keep an eye on the city very well. Some say he even has some interesting
theories about the silver-faced Lord Protector Enoch LaForge himself!
The Ministry Continuum - This is a secret sect of vampire slayers believed to have started
in Brogue. They worship many gods, Ezra being the predominant religion among them. The Ministry is very secret
about its activites and whereabouts in Brogue. They have numerous safehouses scattered throughout old ruins and abandoned
barns, some even in catacombs. To be recruited in the Ministry, one of their bretheren must find you. Only those
noted for retiring a vampire gain their attention. For those that know about them, it is thought
that membership is lifetime only.
